Start the fourth edition of the Seve Ballesteros Foundation Challenge Mercedes-Benz. A set of 37 pairs charity tournaments to be played from April to September throughout Spain, celebrating the Final at Real Golf de Pedreña.
The Challenge is a series of charity tournaments whose proceeds go to fund clinical research on brain tumors and support young golfers purpose for which Seve was his Foundation. The first edition took place on April 9, 2011 at 140 golf courses in Spain, where 12,000 participants paid tribute to Seve on his birthday. Thanks to the funds raised, in November 2011 the FSB signed an agreement with the National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) to create the Seve Ballesteros Foundation-CNIO Laboratory.
The Challenge 2015, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Spain and the collaboration of Hugo Boss, Mahou-San Miguel, Royal Spanish Golf Federation, Real Golf de Pedreña and EurAsia Cup Foundation, consists of 37 tournaments to be held April September under the Greensome mode, and a Final at Real Golf de Pedreña at which the winners will be invited partners of the preliminary clubs, whose prize is a trip to Malaysia to participate in the Pro-Am in the EurAsia Cup 2016 competition that pits the best European players against Asians.
This was presented to the media preceded by a Golf tournament for journalists in Santander, resulting Handicap champion pairing of Hugo Costa and Manuel Elvira, Canal + Golf, who qualified for the final of Pedreña; Luis Guillermo Salmerón Corralo and have been awarded the prize in the category Scratch.
According external assessment, laboratory work that the Seve Ballesteros Foundation-CNIO led by researcher Massimo Squatrito, is of great scientific quality and will certainly contribute to a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms that regulate the formation of tumors in the nervous system Central and improve their response to certain therapeutic approaches. The results obtained so far are not likely to change the current clinical management of the disease in the short term; however, they can help lay the basis for identifying new therapeutic targets and mechanisms of action, in order to develop new therapies to improve treatment and prognosis of patients with glioma and medulloblastoma strategies targets.
