School Children From Colegio Santa Rosa De Lima

– Where does your father work?

– At Los Arqueros Golf, Marbella.

– What does he do there?

– Um…. don´t know….

This is a common situation among school children, who are asked what their parents do and they only know the name of the place where their parents work but not what they do at work.

Three teachers and fourteen students from Santa Rosa de Lima, at Igualeja (Málaga) visited Los Arqueros Golf, in Benahavís (Marbella), with the purpose of showing the working place of Juan José’s father, Jose Antonio García Doña who is the greenkeeper of the golf course, and also Ana Jose’s father, Antonio Gil García who is a maintenance worker of Los Arqueros Golf.

It was a great to break to routine of a day of classes at school for a visit to Los Arqueros Golf. Thus, to start with the students of kindergarden and primary education, together with their teachers had a breakfast at the Club to charge batteries for a day full of activities. At the maintenance building, the students checked the specialized machinery used at golf course and  where it is tuned-up. They also visited the Club house and at the golf course checked the state of the greens and tees. To finish with, the students from Igualeja received a golf lesson from the pros of Los Arqueros Golf, Miguel Jiménez and Miguel Ángel Pérez. The school children showed great interest in all they were shown and their faces expressed enthusiasm, happiness and gratitude.

From now on, the students from Santa Rosa de Lima not only know what students’ parents like bakers, Spanish Guardia Civil or others do. They know what jobs Ana Jose and Juan Jose’s father do at Los Arqueros Golf.
