Last Tuesday, 24th October 2017, took place a new match of the Senior League, this time Los Arqueros vs RCG Málaga.
We approached this rearranged match knowing that a 2 1/2 to 1/2 win would guarantee a La Liga victory and we would be unbeaten against any club all season. The only way to organise this match was to take the last three tee times of the regular Weekly Tuesday Stableford and I am grateful to the members for allowing us to facilitate this fixture especially as there were very few mornings available.
In Match 1 Mike and Steve quickly dominated their opponents winning the first five holes and they cruised to a 7&5 win despite their captain holing his second shot at the 10th for a net albatross.
Dean and Fran also gained the upper hand rapidly in the second match and using their local knowledge they battled to a comfortable 4&3 win after some very low scoring and excellent chipping and putting.
However, in the third match Markus and Alan’s winning run came to an end when they lost narrowly on the last hole after their opponents scored remarkably well going round in three under par.
It was another Home victory giving us a 100 percent record and meaning that in our ten matches against other clubs we have overall won nine and drawn one. It has been a great season after a rocky start and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in its success from the Golf Director, Lidia, the Caddymasters, Alvaro and the restaurant crew, and especially all of the players who have given up their time, for their commitment, and for their determination to succeed. They have represented the Club with great distinction and have made many friends. A special thank you to all of the members for their enthusiastic support.
