Saint-Nicolas Tournament at Los Arqueros Golf

On Thursday, 3rd December 2015, Los Arqueros Bridgeclub, in Benahavis, will hold a special tournament to celebrate Sinterklaas, a traditional day held every year on 6th December.

The competition will start at 4:00 pm and each participant will be delighted with typical Dutch treats and there will be prizes for the winners.

This is a very special day for Dutch children who receive their desired gifts.

Sinterklaas is a mythical figure with legendary, historical and folkloric origins based on Saint Nicholas, who brings gifts to the children that day. Sinterklaas comes from Spain, and every year since 1934 reaches to the Dutch coast in a steamer. He traditionally rides a white horse called Amerigo, and he is accompanied by his assistants, also known as “Pedritos”, who throwing “pepernoten”, a spices cookies, to people.

This is one of the most important traditions in Holland and Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club wants to do its special tribute.
