International real estate developer Taylor Wimpey handed over a cheque for €5,000 to the Cáritas organisation as the proceeds of a special tournament at Los Arqueros to commemorate the Seve Ballesteros-designed course’s 25th anniversary.
The funds raised will be used by the charity to help under-privileged families in the lead-up to Christmas. Taylor Wimpey regional manager Ignacio Oslé formally presented the cheque to Mercedes Agüera, president of Cáritas Virgen del Rócio.
More than 200 people attended the celebratory event (which also included a charity lunch), including Benahavís Town Hall councillors Ake Olofsson and María de los Ángeles Mena. Javier Ballester, president of Los Arqueros Golf and managing director of Taylor Wimpey, praised the “incredible work of the staff over the years whose dedication has helped improve the quality of the course on a daily basis and led to it being recognised as one of the 10 most popular pay-for-play courses in the area”.
