Do you know where the word “caddie” comes from?

It comes from French: “cadet” means boy, youngest son. Queen Mary Stuart first female golfer in history introduced, this term upon returning from the French court to her country of origin (Scotland) and naming the child who carried her clubs “CADDIE”.

The Oxford Dictionary of 1730 includes the word caddie and one of the definitions was “the child who carries the golf clubs.
