Competition

On Wednesday 14th of December Los Arqueros received the visit of the green keeper of the area. José Antonio García Doña, our Green Keeper, prepared for that day a golf competition, lunch and prize giving. After the game of golf and once the green keepers came together in our members lounge they had the opportunity to talk through the days’ experience and share their work knowledge. One thing they all agreed upon was that the most important part of the day had been the good company and atmosphere.

On last Sunday July 17 was held the 4th edition of "Gran Open Los Arqueros Golf", where the results showed a magnificent level of  play and fantastic prizes:

This summer Los Arqueros Golf has organized thematic weeks based on golf, culinary and culture from different regions of Spain, among those was the Basque community. During that week, visitors had the chance to try typical “pintxos” from Euskadi, get to know the cultural places of interest, the excellent and numerous wineries from Rioja Alavesa and the importance of golf in that community, with Javier Arana, as the best Spanish golf designer, the golf player Jose Mª Olazábal, and golf courses such as San Sebastián and Neguri among others.

Mixed Interclub Challenge is a summer competition played between Guadalmina, Atalaya, El Paíso, La Cala, Santa María and Los Arqueros, sponsored by Inter Invest Marbella.

Each club hosts a competition, the format being Better Ball Stableford – the 4 best scores counting as a team score.

If the first competition promoted by Los Arqueros Golf Restaurant (Benahavís-Marbella) was a big success, this year, their second calling demonstrated the superb support and loyalty the restaurant has achieved from their clients, who took part in a golf competition at Los Arqueros Golf, followed by a great aperitif cocktail, lunch and prize giving.

The ladies members of Los Arqueros Golf celebrated the Ladies’ Invitation Day inviting ladies coming from other golf courses to play a golf competition.
It was a day of golf where the great conditions of the golf course were very much appreciated. From tee 1 members greeted their guests with a small breakfast. The lunch was served by Los Arqueros Restaurant and it was followed by the prize giving.

The English competition was the last to close the block of golf and gastronomy weeks.
 
The members of Los Arqueros Golf did not want to miss this occasion to taste typical English dishes during the whole week. To end up there was an English golf competition where Christina Stauton was proclaimed the winner, followed by Karin Hesse and Peter Stauton. The three of them happen to be students of Miguel A. Jiménez, the pro of Los Arqueros Golf.

There are typical German dishes well-known like sausages, knuckle or cabbage and of course the nation drink, the German beer. During the whole week Los Arqueros Restaurant prepared typical German recipies and more, and during the golf competition players also enjoyed them as a tapa.

At the German competition the modality of the game was Individual Stableford and  Inna Bladen was proclaimed winner, followed by Karin Hesse.

The golf and gastronomy weeks at Los Arqueros Golf started with the Swedish. It will be followed by the German, Danish and English weeks. Some will wonder if there will be any Spanish week. Of course there will be weeks focused on different regions of Spain that will conquer your palette this summer.
 
The winners of the competition show how multicultural the competition was. In first position the Swedish Margaretha Remröd, in second position the Spanish Miguel Peña Morales and in third position Ithe Russian nna Bladen.

Traditions start but one never knows when they finish… with these words, the deputy mayor of San Pedro Alcántara, Mr. Miguel Troyano, welcomed all participants of the II Friendship Competition that for the second consecutive year has been played between Benahavís and San Pedro Alcántara with a great cordiality and sportsmanship. The place chosen was once again Los Arqueros.
